What does it mean to be a man?

Here are 5 basic principles of being a man. If you can nail the basics, you will be able to stand when things are not going your way (which they won’t most of the time) in life, and you will be able to be the best version of the man that God has called you to be.

What does it mean to be a man?

The fear of God:
The Bible speaks about how the fear of Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Prov. 9:10). Fearing God means keeping His commands, to love truth and hate evil. Fearing God will also keep you off the path that leads to death and destruction. It will allow you to lead your family as you should, so fear the Lord.

Sacrifice and service:
To die to self and to serve others is one of the most fulfilling things you can strive to do on a daily basis. I’m not talking about people pleasing. I’m talking about serving people for the glory of God. Christ gave us the perfect example of dying to self for others. So serve others, your family and community will greatly benefit from it.

Protecting:
Do not make peace with evil, destroy it. To be a man means to protect life. This is on a physical and spiritual level. Get good at defending and protecting innocent life. Protect your wife and children from the spiritual and physical dangers of this world. Evil is all around us and we as men must be willing to defend our loved ones in the face of evil.

Leadership:
Without the right leadership, your wife and children will be left to navigate life on their own. You as a man have the perfect leader, Jesus Christ, and He have you a perfect guide (the Bible) on how to lead your family and others in the community. So take action, read the Word, submit to Christ and lead the way that you should.

Stand firm in the Faith:
The world loves darkness rather than Light because their works are evil (John 3:19). The world will always promote everything that is wicked and they will shun you for speaking and loving what is true. Stand firm, don’t give in to the senselessness of the ways of the world, instead stand firm on the foundation of truth that is Christ Jesus.
